Hi everyone, my name is Kyla Ritter and I am incredibly honored and thrilled to welcome the New Member Class of 2016 as the Vice President of New Member Education. There has been much preparation from the executive board as a whole, our advisors, and myself to ensure that our new members will feel nothing but welcome and be able to find their forever home within Delta Zeta. We live by the values set forth by our creed and I am eager to see which aspects of these timeless statements will be brought to light by our new members this fall.

The Delta Zeta new member period is an incredibly influential chapter in a collegiate women’s life. This time consists of a ten-week curriculum that surrounds our young women in the history of our sorority and the expectations of their membership as a new member in order to become an active member of Delta Zeta. These ten weeks begin with a pledge-in ceremony then their activities develop into a routine of weekly meetings and study hours. Along their journey, new members are able to experience big sis/little sis reveal, philanthropy events, homecoming festivities, family weekend, social mixers, a new member education exam, and finally initiation. All of these events bring women together to establish life-long relationships that shape our women into the world-changers that we are proud to call our sisters.

The goals for our new members first and foremost consist of educating our young women to the best of our ability on what it means to be a woman of Delta Zeta. We intend for our new members to grasp the history, the present, and the future of our Xi Nu chapter. We also want to help them transition into Tarleton State University and find their home away from home. We strive to help them succeed in the classroom. Finally we have set goals to be recognized at the Delta Zeta Region Weekend awards for 100% initiation, outstanding new member, and excellence in New Member Education.

We are so excited that you have chosen Tarleton State University to continue your journey of a better education and we can’t wait to see what Delta Zeta can do for you. However more importantly, we are ecstatic to see our chapter grow and flourish with the help of the New Member Class of 2016.

In the flame,
Kyla Ritter
